Kate advises business on a broad range of commercial matters, particularly where there is a technology aspect involved.
Kate is an associate in our Commercial practice, based in London.
She drafts, reviews and negotiates all sorts of commercial contracts for clients including contracts for the sale of goods, contracts for the supply of services, reseller agreements, agency agreements, consultancy agreements and outsourcing agreements. She has experience of acting for both the supplier and the customer on contract negotiations giving her an understanding of the priorities and risks for both sides.
Kate has particular knowledge of the technology industry and advises clients on areas such as software licensing and development, IT outsourcing, website development and hosting, cloud computing (including SAAS, IAAS and PAAS) and e-signatures. She really enjoys acting for clients in different industries, such as the Retail & Consumer sector, on their purchases of cutting edge technology.
In addition, Kate also has expertise in the eCommerce sector and advises clients on the regulatory environment (such as geo-blocking) and on website terms and conditions.
Her six month secondment in the commercial team of a leading FTSE 100 insurance company was an excellent opportunity to experience things from a client’s perspective and to understand the types of challenges a client faces day to day.
She is an active member of the Society of Computers and Law and sits on their Tech Law Futures Committee.Her special areas of interest include wearable tech and retail tech.
