I am Principal Regulatory counsel in our regulatory team and a member of our Tech & Comms Group in The Hague, where I support our clients in their lobbying activities, drawing on my in-depth business knowledge and extensive experience in TMT and public administration.

I also advise on regulatory and policy matters with a particular focus on the Netherlands and Europe.

Working in close partnership with our clients, I develop and present strategic, regulatory and policy views in legislative procedures and lobby at national and EU level on issues regarding electronic communications regulation, end user protection, net neutrality, numbering, transparency, security, privacy, rights of way, market analysis and the application of European legislation into national law.

Over the years, I have developed a broad network of contacts in the telecoms sector: in the European administration and the Dutch Parliament, the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets - the ACM - and the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

I joined Bird & Bird in 2007 having begun my career as a business lawyer in 1993 working for major Dutch telecoms companies. Today I am chairman of the Dutch Rights of Way Association, which brings together a round table of telecoms operators to represent their regulatory interests in consumer markets.
