Dr. Felix Landry

I am a German and European patent attorney with in-depth knowledge of electronics, physics and engineering. I work in our international Intellectual Property Group in Hamburg.

I have extensive experience in national and European patent law including prosecution and opposition and opposition appeal proceedings at the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trade Mark Office as well as nullity proceedings at the German Federal Patent Court and the German Supreme Court. I also advise on infringement proceedings before German patent infringement courts and provide support with patent infringement proceedings in other countries inside and outside Europe. Moreover, I provide expert opinions on patentability and infringement.

My main technical focus is on telecommunications and computer technology, including software, aviation engineering, power tool technology and medical engineering.

I am co-author of the books Haedicke/Timmann (Ed.), 'Handbuch des Patentrechts', Carl Heymanns, Cologne/Munich, 2012 and Haedicke/Timmann (Ed.), 'Patent Law', C.H. Beck/Hart/Nomos, Munich/Oxford/Baden-Baden, 2014, for which I contributed several sections including grant procedure, opposition proceedings, appeal proceedings and nullity proceedings.

I qualified with a PhD in physics from the University of Göttingen and worked for BASF before taking up a career in patent law. Today, I am a member of FICPI, GRUR, DPG, EPI, VPP, AIPPI and the Association of German Patent Attorneys.

• Garmin: Comprehensive patent portfolio management in Europe.
• Nvidia: Representation in nullity proceedings and participation in infringement proceedings against Polaris regarding memory modules for graphics cards.
• American entertainment company: Third-party intervention in a nullity appeal proceeding before the Federal Supreme Court and requirements in terms of public notoriety with regard to prior use.
• Avago/Netflix: Representation in a series of nullity and opposition proceedings instituted by Netflix for several different patents and in connection with the parallel patent infringement actions against Netflix.
• Huawei/Optis Cellular: Representation of Huawei in nullity proceedings against patents of Optis Cellular in relation to the LTE standard and in connection with the parallel patent infringement actions instituted by Optis Cellular.
• Alstom/Bombardier: Representation of Alstom in nullity proceedings against a patent of Bombardier relating to train bogies and in connection with the parallel patent infringement action instituted by Bombardier.
