I work with start ups as well as larger companies and publicly traded companies. Both general advice and dispute resolution are part of my practice. This leads to a thorough understanding of matters from start to finish.Since time is of the essence in many IP related cases, I find it vital to establish an effective relationship with clients right from the start. In my view, open communication and clear expectations lead to such an effective and valuable client relationship. Each case is different. In addition to handling national IP matters, we are more than well-equipped to handle matters which involve multiple jurisdictions. I collaborate with lawyers in our other offices around the world on a daily basis, offering our clients seamless cross-jurisdictional advice and a one-stop-shop approach. Recently, we have seen an increase in cases involving trade secrets, mainly due to the implementation of the EU Trade Secrets Directive. The area of tension between, on the one hand, description or inspection of documents (eg. needed to prove infringement) and, on the other hand, protection of confidential information, is thought provoking. I enjoy working on such complex (and also more straightforward) legal IP issues.
