Bird & Bird kicks off the new year with a new dispute resolution partner in Hong Kong

International law firm Bird & Bird this week appoints David Chu as partner in Hong Kong, providing a significant boost to the firm’s International Dispute Resolution group.



David’s practice focuses on regulatory enforcement and compliance, commercial and securities related litigation. He has significant experience with internal and government investigations in Hong Kong and the U.S., including in particular matters involving the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, Independent Commission Against Corruption and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He also has extensive experience handling cases in the Hong Kong courts involving director misfeasance and shareholders’ disputes and has worked on a broad range of matters arising from failed securities and commercial transactions. David currently sits as a judge on the International Court of Appeal and International Tribunal Federation Internationale de l’Automobile in additional to serving as Deputy Chair of the Sports Law Subcommittee, Leisure Industries Section of the International Bar Association, and he remains close to issues affecting clients in the sports sector.

David joins from Proskauer Rose, Hong Kong, where he was Partner and Head of Litigation for Asia. He is PRC native (born in Guangdong), brought up in Canada and is qualified in Hong Kong, USA (New York) and Canada (British Columbia), which will provide a strong platform for interaction with the firm’s international client base.
