Government announces plans for new Digital Markets Unit

On Friday 27 November, the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and the Department for Digital Culture, Media & Sport announced a new statutory framework in the UK to promote competition among digital platforms. This includes a code of conduct (the ‘code’) that will be enforced by the new ‘Digital Markets Unit’ (the ‘DMU’) from April 2021. Lucy Turner, Antonia Boyce and Bryony Gold explain.
