Bird & Bird have advised ESPS Holding Ltd on the $303.6m acquisition of Ameriabank

International law firm Bird & Bird has advised ESPS Holding Limited in relation to the acquisition of Ameriabank by London-listed Bank of Georgia Group PLC for approximately $303.6 million. The deal closed on 3 April 2024.

ESPS is a company held by certain senior management of Ameriabank and a significant shareholder of the bank. The proposed acquisition was a Class 1 acquisition under the FCA Listing Rules.

Ameriabank, an Armenian universal bank offering corporate, investment and retail banking services, has joined the portfolio of the Bank of Georgia, a UK incorporated financial services holding company.

The Bird & Bird team was led by corporate partner Nick O’Donnell and senior associate Edward Reardon.
