International law firm Bird & Bird today grows its Energy & Utilities sector group with the hire of energy, infrastructure, real estate projects and capital markets specialist Laura Huomo as a partner in Helsinki.
Laura joins from Roschier where she has been Counsel since 2013. She specialises in energy projects and energy commercial and regulatory advice, across the gas, clean energy (including renewables and hydrogen), energy infrastructure and energy digitalisation sectors, with particular focus on the Nordic and Baltic regions. In addition, she has extensive experience in international equity and debt capital offerings, including IPOs, as well as banking and structured finance transactions. She has 20 years of experience in capital markets work and energy related assignments and is a member of the New York State Bar as well as the Finnish Bar Association.
In 2020, Laura won the Client Choice award for energy and natural resources in Finland. She is also recognised as one of the leading experts in energy and capital markets in Finland by international legal directories such as IFLR1000 Energy & Infrastructure (2020) and as a recognised practitioner in energy and natural resources in Finland by Chambers Europe (2020).
Laura’s appointment is a key part of Bird & Bird’s strategic expansion in energy, infrastructure, and real estate projects. At Bird & Bird, Laura will lead on projects across the Real Estate, Infrastructure and Corporate practices with a focus on the digitalisation of these areas in Finland, the Nordics and on a wider international scale.
