Bird & Bird's international trade mark team holds its own in the latest WTR 1000 rankings

For the 9th year running, Bird & Bird have been recognised as one of the world's top firms in World Trademark Review's (WTR) guide to international trade mark practice, the WTR 1000.

We are ranked in 17 countries, across Europe and Asia-Pacific, while 37 of our practitioners are highlighted for their exceptional trade mark expertise. We also feature in the directory's list of leading international firms, reflecting our very strong presence on the global stage.

The guide reflects on our respected position and international coverage in the market stating: "At Bird & Bird, multiple teams in Europe and Asia sync up to put in place ironclad trademark protection schemes for marquee global brands and advise on far-sighted strategies".

New partner in our Spanish team, Mariano Santos, was also newly recognised under Bird & Bird, with the guide commenting “From a technical point of view, Mariano’s work is impeccable, but the best thing is the strategic nature of his advice. His analysis is always thorough and he’s very business-oriented, and he has a wealth of knowledge about trademark protection in Latin America, where it can be difficult to work; more broadly, he deals with international matters extremely well. You just feel safe when he’s advising you.”

Rankings are based on more than 1,300 interviews with lawyers, attorneys and clients, across 70 jurisdictions, involved with trade marks conducted by WTR’s research team..

The guide is a popular tool for brand owners to use in considering their choice of external counsel and for law firms entering markets where they do not have trade mark practitioners on the ground.
