Bird & Bird celebrates 10 years in Singapore

International law firm Bird & Bird is celebrating its first decade in Singapore this year, since its entry into a global association agreement with Singapore law firm Alban Tay Mahtani & de Silva LLP (ATMD) in 2009, forming Bird & Bird ATMD as it is known today.

The global association, which was built on strong practice and sector synergies between the two firms, provided Bird & Bird a presence in Singapore, a key regional hub in South East Asia.

The Singapore office is integral to Bird & Bird's long-term strategy for the Asia Pacific region, by providing a central hub for the development and growth of the firm's business in ASEAN.

Since the successful integration of the Singapore law practice in the Bird & Bird international practice, the global association has seen remarkable success through the growth of its capabilities and offering to clients, as well as the increased foothold it has in the Singapore and regional markets over the years. In tandem with this growth, the Singapore office has also grown significantly in numbers with a total staff strength of over 130 employees.

This is one of the longest successful partnerships between a Singapore law firm and a global practice in Singapore.

With the rise in technology in Singapore and across the region, this global association remains ever more important as Bird & Bird continues to pursue its vision to be the number one law firm in the world for organisations impacted by technology and digitisation.

Lorraine Tay and Sandra Seah, Joint Managing Partners of the Singapore office, say:

"Our 10th anniversary as part of the Bird & Bird family comes along with exciting trends in our key practice areas, particularly in technology-related areas such as IP/IT and data protection, as well as transactional areas, such as M&A, real estate and project finance, and dispute resolution, and regulatory matters. We are constantly evolving our business and service offerings in line with our clients' needs in the face of the digital economy, and look forward to continue to service them.

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our clients, partners and friends for their support and trust in us all these years. The success of the firm is also not without the dedicated support of our staff who are the backbone of the business. We look forward to many more years of success."
