Bird & Bird LLP kicks off the New Year by appointing a new Data Protection partner, Guadalupe ('Lupe') Sampedro, who will share her time between the London and Madrid offices.
Lupe joins from PayPal where she was the European DPO and Privacy Director for EMEA. She has significant experience of international data protection projects from an in-house and private practice perspective and is also a Spanish qualified Data Protection lawyer, who was top-ranked in Spain prior to her move to PayPal.
During her time at PayPal, Lupe established the privacy team and the privacy program in EMEA, and led the process to obtain new Binding Corporate Rules (controller and processor) for PayPal.
