Bird & Bird advises Index Ventures on a USD23 million Series B round financing of SafetyCulture

The Bird & Bird VC team recently advised Index Ventures on a USD23 million Series B round financing of SafetyCulture with participation from existing investors.

SafetyCulture was founded by Luke Anear in Townsville (Australia) and is backed by Blackbird Ventures and one of Atlassian's co-founders. SafetyCulture's key product is a workplace safety audit app which was developed in 2012 and has since become the most used safety audit app in the world. Emirates, Qantas, Coles and Uniqlo are some of SafetyCulture's customers.

Rini Banerjee, Legal Counsel at Index Ventures, said: "We were impressed by Shing and her team's experience, particularly on the Australian legal start up issues."

Bird & Bird partner Shing Lo, who led the financing with assistance from Lisa Vanderwal of the Sydney office, commented: "Having worked on a number of iconic VC transactions in Australia such as the re-domiciliation of Atlassian and the financing of Campaign Monitor, we are extremely delighted to advise Index Ventures on its financing of an up-and-coming Australian start up. This transaction showcases our VC expertise and is another example of our cross border specialisation: advising a European based VC fund with its investment in an Australian asset in the technology space."
