UPC Implementation Road Map

The UPC Preparatory Committee has published the implementation roadmap for the UPC, confirming it is on track for the Court to open for business and start receiving cases on 1 April 2023.

 

The implementation roadmap describes key activities and milestones of the UPC over the next few months, including:

  • Global milestones – such as German ratification and the start of the Sunrise Period, which is expected to be 1 January 2023.
  • Recruitment activities – including recruitment of judges, election of Presidents (for Court of First Instance and Court of Appeal), administrative staff etc.
  • Case Management System activities and milestones – including CMS self-practice (where users will have the opportunity to use and practice the CMS on their own) and Sunrise CMS practice.

Besides the roadmap, the UPC has announced a new website that will launch on 7 November 2022, with a new design and functionality including information on:

  • Court locations and Registry contact information.
  • Various legal documents.
  • Pages for official communications.
  • Vacancies.
  • Information about judges.
