For those living and working in London, the last year has been one like no other. On the 31st of January 2020, the UK departed the European Union, the single market and the customs union.

After a turbulent four years of negotiations, the UK/EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) was announced on the 24th of December, and the transition period came to an end on the 31st of December. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged city life, causing the loss of some 300,000 jobs. London now confronts the twin challenges of the economic fallout and disturbances caused by the pandemic and by Brexit.
