Following the UK’s final departure from the EU, the UK CAA continued to recognise some EU-issued aviation licences and approvals which has enabled flight crew, third country operators and MROs to operate to the UK or to maintain UK-registered aircraft for a further two years without UK-issued licences. This grace period ends at the end of 2022, meaning a number of licences and approvals will no longer be recognised in the UK.
In December 2019 we held a successful briefing with David Kendrick, Head of Airline Licensing at the CAA, on the anticipated changes at the end of the Transition Period. This was before the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement was signed, so we didn't know what the traffic rights position would look like. Happily, the flights continued, might some now stop? Bird & Bird are delighted to invite you to our webinar on the forthcoming changes and the steps that you may need to take in the next six months. A number of operators and licence holders need to take positive action to ensure that they can continue to operate next year. Aircraft leasing companies need to be aware of the indirect impact on them.
