Bird & Bird x Tay & Partners Live forum: An exciting opportunity for Malaysian Businesses: Find our why and how to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange

The Hong Kong capital markets have remained relatively robust in the first half of 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Indeed, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange recorded HK$87.5 billion in IPO proceeds in the first half of 2020, an increase of 22% (or HK$15.7 billion) when compared to the same period last year, having benefitted from two significant secondary listings from renowned Chinese technology brands.

Andrew Weir, the former chairman of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange's 28-member listing committee, recently expressed continued optimism for Hong Kong as an international financial center beyond just fundraising for Chinese firms. He specifically underlined the neighboring Southeast Asian region as a source of new issuances, citing Hong Kong’s deep pool of capital, market expertise, the stock and bond connect schemes and the introduction of "Wealth Management Connect" with mainland China as the main attractions.

Against this backdrop, we believe that listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEx) may provide exciting opportunities for fundraising and growth for Malaysian businesses.

Bird & Bird and Tay & Partners, have been jointly supporting clients in Malaysia and across Asia for decades and we are delighted to invite you to our webinars providing an in depth understanding of listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
