We will have a look at the Grindr enforcement case in Norway, the consent-or-pay debate, as well as the unprecedented Verkkokauppa.com case, which resulted in the heftiest fine in Finland's history.
Our leading question will be: Is data protection the only right or should there be a balancing of other rights and interests?
The seminar will be moderated by Milla Keller, a podcast host, author, and Senior Legal Counsel at Telia, will be guiding the discussion. Tobias Bräutigam from Bird & Bird will discuss balancing data protection against other rights, followed by Eva Jarbekk from Schjødt, who speaks on a specific case regarding the Grindr enforcement.
Laura Tarhonen from Schibsted will discuss business models in distress from the Verkkokauppa.com case's perspective. Cecilia Álvarez from Meta will hold the consent and pay discussion.
In the course of the event, we will gain a better understanding of the different aspects behind these cases and outline the evolving trends in data protection enforcement. We will end with a panel session and the opportunity to ask questions.
