Influencer marketing under the spotlight in Italy

Influencers and endorsements have recently come under the spotlight in Italy, after the Italian Competition Authority announced a second 'moral suasion' against influencers, bloggers and their 'influencer marketing'. The first 'moral suasion', launched last year, targeted the most popular Italian influencers, while this more recent initiative is targeting those with fewer but still significant followings. This action aims to address the critical issue of transparency and the ability of a consumer to recognise advertising through social media accounts.
