Yes, registered designs are protected for a period of 5 years, extendable up to a total of 25 years (in 5 year blocks).
Yes, UK unregistered design rights subsist automatically and expire at the lesser of 15 years from either: the end of the calendar year in which the design was first recorded; or where the design is made for sale/hire within 5 years of the design being created, 10 years from the end of the calendar year in which that first occurred.
