High Court rules against Google in landmark right to be forgotten case

In a landmark decision, the High Court of England and Wales has ruled that individuals do have a 'right to be forgotten' after an individual requested that Google removed article links about their now spent prior convictions. While the Court ruled that these articles should be deleted from Google searches as they longer held any relevance, the individual was not entitled to compensation as Google had acted with 'reasonable care' over his request. Since 2014, Google has removed over 800,000 links from its search results, and this recent decision will no doubt prompt countless others to come forward.
