Sandra Sekula-Baranska

I am a Counsel and Head of ESG and Environmental Law department in the Energy & Utilities practice, specialising in environmental law and ESG.

I have been advising clients on regulatory matters since 2010, specialising in environmental law, water law, geological, mining and energy law.

I have experience in advising on environmental and regulatory risks in relation to a range of investment and infrastructure projects, real estate transactions and M&A transactions. I examine compliance with Polish and EU environmental and regulatory laws, advise on green bonds, environmental pollution, and contamination matters, including reclamation and remediation and environmental liability issues.

I conduct legal due diligence projects, with special focus on environmental law and ESG. I assist businesses in obtaining, changing, and transferring various administrative permits, inter alia, decisions on environmental conditions, integrated permits, water permits, waste permits, emission permits, and licences.

I also represent clients in proceedings before public authorities and courts, including administrative courts.

I closely follow the development of space technology, quantum physics and AI, perceiving them as ways for innovative solutions that can help protect the environment and examine various ESG processes.

Before joining Bird & Bird, I gained my professional experience working in international law firms and a district court.
