Amanda Lim

I am an associate in our Intellectual Property Group in Singapore, with a particular focus on trade mark portfolio management and registered designs. I firmly believe in understanding every client's product, industry, and business objectives, so as to deliver targeted and commercially viable legal solutions, in a cost-effective and practical matter.

I work alongside a team of passionate and capable professionals who advise clients from all over the world. We assist our clients in shaping their intellectual property strategy in line with their business objectives, thereby ensuring that they maximise the value of the intellectual property as they grow their businesses.

I handle the day-to-day management of client's global and regional IP portfolios, with a view to strengthening their IP rights worldwide. I regularly conduct clearance searches for client's potential IP, devising and implementing strategies to protect their IP in jurisdictions that they wish to expand into, in a cost-effective manner. This allows clients to grow their business with a peace of mind. I also assist clients in IP audits, due diligence and opposition matters. My clients are in diverse industries ranging from food and beverage, gaming, travel and education, to cosmetics.

Prior to joining Bird & Bird, I was working at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) as an associate IP Strategist. There, I worked with other lawyers, engineers, and consultants to provide holistic IP advice to Government agencies and private entities, from both the legal and commercial angle. Due to my experience in IPOS, I understand how IP should not be viewed as a purely legal construct, but can be recognised, managed and utilised to maximise revenue and value.

Having worked as a legal counsel in a food and beverage group in Thailand, I understand business concerns and constraints, and the intricacies of navigating the sensitivities in our ASEAN region. I aim to deliver targeted and practical legal advice that suit the clients' business needs and objectives, while balancing risks.

I wish to help individuals and businesses understand the value of IP, partnering them as they manage their IP to unlock the full potential of their businesses, to scale and grow globally.
