International law firm Bird & Bird acted as a legal advisor for CSC – IT Center for Science (“CSC”) in an arrangement where a new headquarter is built for CSC within the new building called Keilaniemen Portti to be located in Keilaniemi Espoo. The property is owned and will be built by Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company.
CSC – IT Center for Science is a Finnish center of expertise in information technology owned by the Finnish state and higher education institutions. In the development project, new office premises of approximately 7,500 sqm will be built for CSC in accordance with the so-called built-to-suit model where the new building is tailor made for the main tenant. A high-class environmental certificate will be sought for the property and special attention will be paid to smart building solutions and to the property’s carbon footprint during its life cycle. The construction of the development project is scheduled to start in 2023 and is estimated to be completed at the end of 2026.
Our assignment included all legal advice for CSC and in the core of the assignment was the lease agreement and project agreement package in which the responsibilities of the parties, quality level and technical aspects are well documented, and CSC's interests are considered.
Bird & Bird’s lead advisors were Counsel Tuukka Korhonen and Senior Associate Jenny Rontu. Partner Mikko Rajala acted as a responsible partner.
Tero Tuononen, Director, Sustainability and Risk Management at CSC, comments: “Expertise and pragmatic approach of Bird & Bird’s lead advisors Counsel Tuukka Korhonen and Senior Associate Jenny Rontu as well as their great ability to understand CSC’s business objectives were in a pivotal role in the execution of this arrangement.
