Bird & Bird's operations in Asia have been strengthened with the appointment of Edward Alder who joins as a partner in the Hong Kong office. Previously a partner at Holman, Fenwick and Willan Hong Kong, Edward specialises in commercial litigation and arbitration, principally in the areas of IT, telecoms and e-commerce.
Having trained in England and Australia, Edward moved to Hong Kong in 1993 working for major companies such as CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd (to whom he has been seconded on a number of occasions). His breadth of experience ranges from advising on IT, software and construction disputes to non-contentious matters such as consultation submissions on draft legislation.
Commenting on his appointment, Matthew Laight, partner in the Hong Kong office said:
