I co-head our London Privacy and Data Protection team and am a member of our India Strategy Group.
I have been advising clients for over 25 years on information law issues including data privacy, cyber risk and freedom of information matters. I also handle complex tech and outsourcing transactions for customers as well as suppliers. Helping clients with GDPR compliance projects, BCR applications, regulatory enforcement actions, data breach incidents as well as claims from individuals are particular areas of focus. A lot of my work is set against the backdrop of companies understanding and taking advantage of new technology and digital disruption opportunities.
I have a strong interest in India and I co-head Bird & Bird's India desk. I have helped a number of Indian companies with their international operations. The legal directories currently identify me as a leading lawyer in both their data protection and IT sections.
I co-wrote the three editions of 'The Data Protection Act Explained' between 1998 and 2001 and have contributed data privacy and cyber chapters to various other publications. In addition, I'm a regular conference speaker on data, cyber and technology law topics and hold the IAPP's CIPP/E certificate.
Before joining Bird & Bird in 2015, I was a partner at another international law firm, where I worked since qualifying in 1996, and set up their data protection team.
