James Hanrahan

I am an associate in our Corporate and Commercial team in Sydney. I have experience in local and cross-border M&A transactions, with a focus on the technology, media and telecommunications sectors.

I have experience assisting privately held, ASX-listed and multinational companies with a variety of corporate transactions and commercial issues. I have worked on every aspect of the life cycle of an M&A transaction, including providing regulatory advice with respect to Australia's foreign investment laws.

With a focus on the technology sector, I have experience working with large foreign-owned corporations acquiring businesses and assets in Australia. As part of those transactions, I have been involved in advising on various corporate governance matters, including the requirements for conducting business in Australia and drafting the documents required to establish those businesses.

I also have a particular interest in working with start-ups and have experience assisting founders throughout the initial growth phase of their business, providing advice on effective company structures, privacy and data protection, intellectual property issues and a range of other commercial matters.

Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked at a large national firm, where I gained experience in the corporate and insurance litigation teams.
