About Me

With nearly 25 years' experience working for law firms, the Big Four and regional accountancy firms, I'm a tax disputes practitioner partner and head of our International Tax Group based in London.

Today I specialise in resolving all forms of tax related disputes or those disputes arising from HMRC's supervisory powers in areas such as AML, focusing on high profile and complex matters relating to tax avoidance, evasion and allegations of fraud. I also defend clients under criminal investigation by HMRC and international regulatory bodies, provide support through tax related crisis situations and advise clients on their response to other forms of intervention by similar bodies.

My clients require an adviser who is 'in your corner' and is able to organise a team to deliver clear and concise advice whilst protecting the client in dispute or regulatory enforcement situations. As well as resolving disputes, often outside of the court system by way of settlement or ADR, I also work with private clients and businesses to help them put in place effective compliance controls to avoid disputes happening. The nature of my work takes me around the globe dealing with cross-border tax disputes and international regulatory enforcement alongside my tax and dispute resolution colleagues from other offices.

As part of my role in leading the International Tax Group at Bird & Bird, I am also responsible for growing the wider tax practice and working alongside a talented pool of practitioners experienced in transactional taxes, employment taxes, transfer pricing and indirect taxes. Our tax practitioners have specialist knowledge in many of the firm's key sectors and as part of my role I am able to bring these specialist areas of tax together to service our global client base.
