As an associate in the Tech Transactions team in our Commercial Group, I advise on a variety of technology contracts with a focus on complex and cutting edge procurement. Artificial Intelligence is a particular interest of mine.

I advise clients on technology focused contracts. This ranges from software development, licencing and maintenance agreements, cloud and SaaS projects, complex technology procurements, to multi-billion pound contracts for the building of naval vessels.

Emerging technology is a real interest of mine. I help clients navigate the risks and legal issues which present themselves when buying or selling new technologies (including AI, blockchain and the Internet of Things). Being surrounded by likeminded individuals at Bird & Bird is an important part of this.

During my time at Bird & Bird, I have spent time on secondment with Arm Limited (a leading semiconductor design and IoT business) and also with a large defence company. I've also worked on a number of 'virtual' secondments and 'virtual general counsel' arrangements. This has allowed me to experience working closely with client's in-house legal teams and given me a real appreciation of the concerns clients have and how to best meet their needs.

• Advising Smart DCC (a company appointed under licence by the Department of Energy and Climate Change) on the roll out of a next-day energy switching service.
• Working with EE on the procurement of hardware for its 5G network.
• Advising Motorola Solutions on the supply of its radio network technology and ongoing support.
• Advising a global defence company on multi-billion pound contracts for the build and delivery of naval vessels, working closely with the client's legal and commercial teams.
