Ted’s background in prosecuting IP rights as a patent attorney enables him to offer his clients an unique perspective in international IP litigation, particularly in the fields of consumer electronics, software and mechanical and materials technology.
Ted is a Partner in our Intellectual Property Group, based in Hong Kong. He is a leader of our international Devices & Components industry initiative.
His practice is focused on complex cross-border IP litigation and Ted has advised on disputes involving embedded software copyright, materials technology, aerospace, semiconductors, chemical and refrigerant technology, LEDs and consumer electronics. Recently Ted has managed teams of lawyers spread across China, India, Japan and South Korea in high value patent infringement and invalidation actions. He also advises on personal data protection and anti-competition issues.
Ted is qualified as a solicitor, UK and European Patent Attorney and European Trade Marks and Designs Attorney. Prior to joining us in Hong Kong, he practiced in London for several years advising clients on global IP protection strategies including drafting and prosecuting of patent applications and oppositions before the UK patent office, the European patent office and globally via the PCT system.
Ted holds a Masters degree in aeronautical engineering from Cambridge University. He frequently contributes to intellectual property publications and is a member of AIPPI's Standing Committee on Patents, and a council member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association through which he advocates on matters important to IP rights holders across Asia. Ted was recently named as an "IP Star" by Managing IP, the leading source of news and analysis on all intellectual property developments worldwide. Earlier this year our IP team received Managing IP's Firm of the Decade award.
