I am a VAT and indirect tax counsel in our tax team in Paris. I am very proud to be considered a leading expert in matters involving VAT and indirect taxes. I enjoy assisting my clients on a very wide range of matters, areas of business and sectors.

My expertise is the fruit of more than 15 years working in 'big five firms', assisting clients in sectors such as insurance, industry, retail distribution, media and communications but also international commerce and trade, Aviation and real estate. The wide-ranging scope of my work includes structuring, tax audits, consultations, assistance and due diligence missions. I am really proud of being recognised for my practice in fields including cost sharing groups, VAT fraud, territoriality of service industries and real estate lease.

VAT issues are essential to understand for companies as they bring challenges for the organisations on a lot of cross-cutting matters. For instance, in order for a company carrying out cross border transactions to determine the mandatory mentions to show on its invoice, the latter must first qualify the transaction in order to obtain its VAT qualification and regime so as to obtain the relevant invoicing legislation to comply with. Dealing efficiently with the VAT aspects of transactions allows companies to mitigate the risks of a VAT reassessment and potentially optimise their cash flow.

My clients often tell me that I can explain very complex VAT issues in a very pedagogical manner so that they are able to implement my advice and recommendations in a very simple way. I have previously worked in a knowledge department and this past experience has helped me with this pedagogical approach.

I regularly publish articles in the legal trade press, in particular the Revue de Droit Fiscal (LexisNexis). I have co-authored a well-known book with Patrick Fumenier, named "Crédit-bail immobilier: la gestion fiscale en pratique" (Real Estate Leasing: Practical and Tax Management) (Publ. EFE, 2009). I am also very pleased to have been chosen recently as an editor of the French Jurisclasseur on tax law by LexisNexiS.

Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked for more than 15 years within former 'big five' firms (VAT department, real estate team, knowledge department). Currently, I'm a frequent speaker at leading French business schools, universities and professional institutions including the University of Paris-Dauphine, EDHEC Lille and EFE.
