Sebastian advises domestic and international clients on all areas of Intellectual Property Law with a focus on patents.
Sebastian is an associate in our Dusseldorf office and is a member of our Intellectual Property Practice Group.
He advises national and international clients especially on patent law. A particular focus of his work is national and international patent litigation, and he is involved in patent litigation in the medical devices, automotive and electronics sectors.
Sebastian studied law at the universities of Munster and Freiburg. During his studies in Munster he specialised in Intellectual Property Law and subsequently completed a doctoral thesis on particular legal issues with the European Patent system compared to the Unitary Patent system. While he wrote his doctoral thesis he worked for an international business law firm in the area of IP litigation.
He completed his legal clerkship in Dusseldorf, Brussels and Hamburg. In Dusseldorf, he spent a stage at one of the three Civil Chambers of the Regional Court specialised in patent matters. In Brussels, Sebastian spent his elective period at the European Commission, Directorate General for Internal Market and Services assessing legal issues relating to the Unitary Patent and the intersection of antitrust and patent law (standard-essential patents).
Sebastian was admitted to the bar in April 2016 and joined our team the same month. He is a member of the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright law (GRUR).
As well as his native German, Sebastian is fluent in English.
