Ronald works closely with his clients at the cutting edge of technology and the law to deliver tailored, commercial solutions.
Ronald Hendrikx heads up our Commercial Group in London where he specialises in supporting clients in the public and private sector throughout the full lifecycle of their contractual relationships, from strategy and design, procurement to in-life management.
Ronald led the Bird & Bird team that assisted the Department for Energy and Climate Change in the procurement of IT and communications services for the GB-wide smart metering programme and continues to advise the £12bn programme on its implementation. He previously worked on the procurement and implementation of the UK's national health electronic patient record system and digitisation of the NHS, as well as a number of ICT projects in the context of e-border, defence and police projects.
Ronald works closely with a number of international clients in the data centre, IT, energy and telecoms sectors, supporting them as they seek to use technology to drive changes in their business or that of their customers.
The commercial project nature of Ronald's work means he has worked closely with and within his clients' organisations, including through an 18 month secondment.
Ronald is particularly interested in the adoption of new technologies by regulated sectors and the opportunities that developments such as M2M, IoT and smart grids bring. Ronald has spoken at a number of events on these topics, both in the UK and abroad, and is actively involved in the international Sustainable, Smart Cities initiative by the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC) on www.SustainableSmartCities.org.
Before joining us, Ronald originally qualified in the Netherlands where he worked for one of largest Dutch law firms, assisting an international client base on a range of IT, outsourcing and communication matters. Ronald is fluent in Dutch and English and speaks German and French.
