Piet-Hein is an associate in our Competition and Regulatory Practices and is based in The Hague and Brussels.
Piet-Hein specialises in EU and Dutch competition law and sector-specific market regulations in the energy, communications, media and technology industries. He was involved in numerous administrative law proceedings and has substantial experience in cartel cases, merger control and abuse of dominance matters.
He further advises clients on distribution and other commercial cooperation agreements and has specific expertise to advise in matters at the intersection of competition and intellectual property law, such as licensing and standardisation issues. Piet-Hein is also a member of our Tech & Comms and Energy & Utilities Groups.
Piet-Hein holds degrees in both Economics and Law. He obtained his Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Rotterdam and also completed the European Master in Law & Economics (EMLE), during which he was a visiting researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. He was admitted to the bar in 2012 and joined us in 2016. In 2018 Piet-Hein successfully completed the specialised EU competition law postgraduate programme at King's College London.
He regularly publishes on competition and regulatory law topics and he is a member of the Dutch Administrative Law Association (VAR), the Dutch Energy Law Association (NeVER) and the Dutch Competition Law Association (VvM).
