Olaf specialises in civil actions and has a strong focus on media, internet and information technology.

Olaf is a partner in our Dispute Resolution Practice. He co-heads our Media Group in the Netherlands, and is based in The Hague.

Olaf specialises in unlawful press publications and misleading advertising. His expertise includes freedom of expression, naming and shaming as well as portrait, press and advertising rights. This work often involves advising companies and individuals who find themselves under attack from the media and can involve close cooperation with the client’s public relations advisors.

He has a solid basis in contract and liability law and is very familiar with subjects  including the termination of negotiations, conformity and warranty claims (among others, in the event of acquisitions) and directors’ and officers’ liability.

Olaf regularly appears before the Dutch Press Council and the Dutch Standard Advertising Agency and acts frequently in urgent preliminary relief proceedings. He is also regularly consulted by one of the largest newspaper in the Netherlands regarding editorial issues. Olaf was admitted to the bar in 1993 and joined us in 2008.

He regularly acts as lecturer at conferences and seminars, and also enjoys providing in-house courses to our clients. He is a member of the Dutch Association for Media and Communication Law (VMC), the Dutch Association for Procedural Law (NVvP) and the Dutch Association for Corporate Litigation (Vereniging Corporate Litigation).
