Michelle heads our Energy & Utilities Group in the Netherlands. She is a partner in our Regulatory Group and is based in The Hague.
She has spent the last 15 years working in the field of Energy, developing expertise and practical experience covering the whole chain of contentious and non-contentious matters of energy law (exploration, production, trading, transmission, distribution and supply of energy) and lobbying. She advises national and multinational clients on energy matters including energy infrastructure, renewable energy projects (biogas, wind, heating, solar), PPAs, carbon credits, tariff regulation and compliance.
Michelle’s team involvement includes commercial and corporate advice as well as transactions and projects in the energy sector. Her clients include energy producers and suppliers, grid operators and energy intensive industries. As a frequent litigator, she represents clients in numerous administrative law proceedings regarding decisions of the Dutch energy regulator and in civil law actions in energy related matters.
Michelle was admitted to the bar in 1992 and joined us in 2007. She has written and spoken widely on energy and utilities issues. Michelle is editor in chief of the Dutch Journal on Energy Law (Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Energierecht) and serves on the Board of the Dutch Energy Law Association (NeVER).
