Matias Vikström

I am an associate in our Tax group in Helsinki, where I work with various domestic and international clients on their tax issues.

I joined Bird & Bird at the start of 2020 following completion of my Masters of Law degree. I studied at the University of Lapland where my work included a vast collection of various matters dealing with taxation and general company law. During my studies, I had the chance to deepen my knowledge of Finnish tax legislation by working as a tax trainee in both the private and the public sector. In addition to my law studies, I have completed courses at the University of Oulu in the fields of Finnish and global history.

I enjoy working with our highly skilled tax practice both domestically and internationally, and challenging myself daily with various tax issues. Specialising in the area of tax law gives me the ability to solve intriguing and international legal problems, along with finding solutions with high added value to our clients. In my free time, I enjoy spending time in the nature of northern Finland and taking an interest in various topics in history, especially the late antiquity.

I am fluent in Finnish and English.
