Since joining Bird & Bird as an associate in the Competition & EU Law Group in The Hague, I've advised on all aspects of competition & EU law, with a strong focus on innovative and regulated markets.
Today, I use this experience to help clients. Sharing knowledge and building an enjoyable and trustworthy working relationship are key factors in my cooperation with clients.
Over the years, I've developed a strong expertise in Dutch and EU competition law. My practice covers, amongst others, cartels, abuse of a dominant position and merger notifications. Public procurement is another core part of my practice, as well as state aid and 'Wet Markt & Overheid' – the Dutch Act for public enterprises and their market activities. For example, I have been involved in the evaluation of this Act.
I began my career in the Commercial Group. By combining my competition & EU and commercial experience, I am able to provide advice on the full range of regulatory and commercial issues. I've advised our clients extensively on the compatibility of their business practices and agreements, like selective distribution systems, exclusivity arrangements, licensing agreements and franchise, with Competition & EU rules, including geo-blocking. I'm also experienced in helping clients with their compliance programmes and I've assisted in several dawn raids.
In addition to the Competition & EU Law Group, I am part of the Commercial, Tech & Comms, Compliance & Investigations and Energy & Utilities Groups within Bird & Bird. As sharing knowledge is a key factor in my practice, I often publish articles on Competition & EU law topics. I am one of the regular authors of the Kluwer Competition Law Blog. Before re-joining Bird & Bird in 2018, I was an associate in the EU & Competition Group at an independent law firm in Brussels.
