I am a senior associate in our Privacy and Data Protection and Technology & Commercial groups, based in Helsinki. I work with a broad variety of clients on privacy and data protection, and telecoms regulation matters.
My work covers all aspects of privacy and data protection law, including advice on privacy policies, negotiating data processing agreements, carrying out data protection impact assessments and developing data subject response procedures. I have acted for a wide variety of clients from public bodies to multinational technology companies on the GDPR and Finnish data protection law.
I have completed client secondments and am experienced in implementing multijurisdictional data protection projects. For instance, I was on a secondment in a multinational technology sector company where I assisted the group legal department and the data protection team in a cross-border project relating to data transfers. More recently, I have advised a client with a GDPR compliance project, including a three-month secondment in Hong Kong. During my secondment, I engaged with the business units and created a hands-on guidance for them on how they can comply with the GDPR.
Prior to joining our team at Bird & Bird in 2016, I gained regulatory affairs experience, having worked at the Ministry of Transport and Communications. In particular, my work focused on the ePrivacy rules and on national legislative changes required by the GDPR. I gained valuable insight into the pre-legislative process, engagement with stakeholders (organisations and regulatory bodies) and gained a strong foundation and understanding in data protection and telecoms regulation. I regularly advise our clients on compliance with the telecoms regulation, including advice on Finnish telecoms obligations, scope of surveillance legislation, as well as engagement with national regulatory agencies.
I am a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), holding CIPP/E certification and frequently lecture and speak at privacy and data protection seminars in Finland.
