Michelle advises domestic and international clients on intellectual property law with a particular focus on patent litigation in the Life Science sector.
Michelle is an associate in our Intellectual Property Practice Group based in our Düsseldorf office.
She advises national and international clients mostly on life science related patent disputes. She has therefore developed comprehensive expertise in the field of patent litigation, in particular on preliminary injunction proceedings, damage claims proceedings as well as infringement main proceedings involving medicaments and medical devices.
Michelle studied law from 2003 until 2008 at the University of Bochum and the University of Düsseldorf where she completed an additional degree in the field of Anglo-American Law. During that time, among other things, she completed an internship at a law firm in Manila, Philippines. Her studies were followed by a position as an academic assistant at University of Düsseldorf (Department for Civil Law and Litigation and the Institute for Legal Matters in Medicine Law). She obtained a PhD in 2011. Her doctoral thesis is in the field of medical law. She has also published several scientific articles and has spoken at conferences on this field. During her legal clerkship (2011 - 2013) in Wuppertal, Düsseldorf and Manila (Philippines) she worked for the German Embassy and the Higher Regional Court in Düsseldorf, among others.
After completing the clerkship and working as a lawyer in another international law firm she joined us in 2014.
Michelle is a member of the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright Law (GRUR) and the German Bar Association (DAV). She is fluent in German, English and Tagalog (Filipino).
