Łukasz Petelski

Łukasz Petelski specialises in Energy law.

He is an Associate in the Energy & Utilities team in Bird & Bird's Warsaw office.

Łukasz has been assisting clients since 2013 and specialises in providing advisory for the energy sector. He has consulted on a number of M&A transactions and performed extensive due diligences in the Polish energy sector. His area of expertise includes advising on key energy matters involving grid connections as well as the preparation and negotiation of contracts for the power, gas and heating sectors.

His main area of interest is renewable energy sources. He has gained professional experience advising on investments relating to the construction and functioning of wind farms (obtaining building permits, preparing and negotiating lease agreements, easement agreements, power purchase agreements and certificate purchase agreements).  Łukasz has also authored numerous press articles related to RES.

Łukasz has supported clients in proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Union. He also has experience in cross-border commercial matters while working on the EUPILLAR project - Cross-Border Litigation in Europe: Private International Law Legislative Framework, National Courts and the Court of Justice of the European Union (European Commission, DG Justice).

He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Bialystok where he completed a Masters of Law, as well as a Bachelor of European Studies. Łukasz participated in the Erasmus programme at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki (Greece). He also graduated from the Summer School of Comparative EU-US Law organised by Michigan State University. In 2012 Łukasz obtained his second Master’s degree in European and International Economic Law at the University Paris-Dauphine (Master 2 Droit Européen et International des Affaires). 

He works in Polish, English and French.
