Lorraine is highly regarded as a leading intellectual property practitioner with experience in international and cross-border issues.
Lorraine is the joint managing partner and head of the Intellectual Property & Technology Group of our office in Singapore.
Lorraine has a broad practice area focussing primarily on non-contentious intellectual property (IP) and general IP advisory work. She works closely with her clients across various industries to manage, protect and exploit their portfolio of intellectual property rights which include trademarks, patents and design covering multiple jurisdictions worldwide. She is also very experienced in handling complex cross border IP issues and often helms the strategy as she manages disputes including oppositions and negotiations.
Lorraine is also very active in transactions involving the commercial exploitation of IP (such as mergers and acquisitions, licensing, franchising and the commercialisation and exploitation of intellectual property rights). She actively leads and manages due diligence and clearance exercises on a global basis, provides risk assessments and attends to negotiations and drafting of related documentation and agreements.
Aside from these areas, Lorraine also regularly advises clients on regulatory and advertising related issues.
Lorraine has 20 years of experience in intellectual property. Prior to joining the firm, Lorraine practiced at a well-established international firm, where she headed the registration practice.
Lorraine actively participates on various Committees with the International Trade Marks Association (INTA) and is consistently recognised as a leading IP lawyer by clients and top legal directories including The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Chambers Asia Pacific, Managing IP, World Trademark Review, Asia IP Experts, and Expert Guides.
She regularly presents at events and seminars organised by WIPO, the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, and the IP Academy, and is often invited as an IP trainer to assist in government related/supported initiatives in Singapore and regionally.
In addition, Lorraine has also recently been appointed an IP Adjudicator by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) for a two-year term from 1 April 2016.
She is also a registered Singapore patent agent and sits on the editorial board of the International Franchising Law Journal.
