Kristina Forsbacka is a member of the Energy & Utilities Practice Group based in Stockholm.
She has extensive experience of commercial law, specialising in energy, environmental and climate change law. Kristina works extensively with clients in the private and public sectors and has advised the Swedish Energy Agency on a regular basis for many years.
Her experience includes legal investigations, including the interpretation and implementation of EU regulations within the energy, environmental and climate change field; matters related to renewable energy; investment agreements related to CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) projects; and wind projects.
Kristina has experience from litigation in the European Court of Justice, and successfully represented the Swedish Energy Agency in the Ålands Vindkraft case, the new EU precedent within renewable energy. She participated as expert in a reference group of the Governmental Committee that has prepared the proposal to a new Swedish Climate Change Act.
Kristina also specialises in environmental law, particularly environmental issues relating to transactions and environmental liability and renewable energy issues.
She has considerable experience of corporate and real estate transactions and of general commercial law, including dispute resolution, both as a lawyer and as in-house counsel.
Kristina has taught environmental law and led seminars on environmental liability, renewable energy and climate change. She has published a number of articles on environmental liability in Swedish legal publications as well as debate articles on climate change, environmental liability and emissions trading and climate investments in newspapers and industry publications. She joined our Stockholm office in 2012.
