As a senior associate in our Brussels team, I specialise in technology, media & telecommunications, privacy & data protection and intellectual property, bringing a pragmatic approach to challenging situations, combined with a deep understanding of legal issues related to new technologies.
I undertake advisory work as well as litigation in a range of legal areas including privacy and data protection, cyber-security, soft IP (copyright, software and database rights), e-commerce, e-marketing and IT contracts. I assist our clients with information and technology matters such as cloud computing, Big Data, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, cookies, electronic signatures, online intermediary liability and online gaming.
I also handle various matters before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and lobbying public authorities in the context of CJEU procedures and legislative processes, notably in matters related to copyright, privacy, cybersecurity and intelligent transport systems.
Since 2013 I have been involved in research and innovation projects funded by the EU Commission. Particularly the legal aspects of projects under FP7 and H2020 programmes: Coco Cloud (cloud computing), TOREADOR (big data) LeMO (big data in the transport sector), DeFEND (privacy – GDPR) and THREAT-ARREST (cybersecurity) . In such matters, I conduct research, in close cooperation with engineers, in relation to numerous legal and ethical aspects.
In addition to writing and speaking on IP and TMT subjects, I co-authored several books such as 'Vers un droit européen de la protection des données?' (Larcier), in which I focus on companies' compliance obligations under the GDPR, but also 'Trade Secret Protection' (Globe Business Publishing Ltd) and 'Studies on translation and multilingualism: Translation and intellectual property rights (Publications Office of the European Union).
