About Me

I am an associate in our IP group in London, where I specialise in contentious patent matters. I am particularly interested in the Life Sciences and Healthcare sector.

My background is in science – I studied Chemistry at university and also spent a number of years working in academic research and the pharmaceutical industry. I enjoy being able to apply the knowledge and experience I gained there to my day-to-day work advising pharmaceutical and biotech companies in patent related matters, which often have a multi-jurisdictional flavour to them. My patent litigation experience includes infringement & revocation proceedings and interim injunction applications.

Prior to joining Bird & Bird in 2020, I was a European Patent Attorney in private practice in Germany and the UK. Therefore I have complementary experience extending to drafting and prosecuting European, German and UK patent applications for clients in the life sciences, medical devices and pharmaceuticals sectors, and working on opposition and appeal cases before the EPO. I am also a qualified UK Patent Attorney.
Cases
  • Secured a win before the UK High Court for a global pharmaceutical company known for its work in the medical fields of virology, oncology and inflammation. Our client was claiming for revocation of two patents as well as defending against claims for patent infringement by their blockbuster drugs. The patents were held invalid for added matter, lack of plausibility and insufficiency. (Gilead v NuCana)
  • Acted successfully before the UK High Court in defending against two separate attempts to obtain interim injunctive relief in the context of ongoing infringement and revocation proceedings. (Neurim & Flynn Pharma v Teva)
  • Acted in revocation proceedings before the UK High Court which resulted in a clearing of the way for generic launch on loss of data exclusivity. (Teva v Janssen Oncology)
