Jerker has extensive experience from advising on IP-issues and commercial agreements across the Media and Entertainment industry.

Jerker Edström is a Partner based in Stockholm. He mainly acts on behalf of clients active in the Media & Entertainment and advises on IP and commercial matters. Jerker is a Partner in the IP Group and heads the Media, Entertainment and Sports Sector in Bird & Bird Sweden. 

Jerker has extensive experience from dealing with contentious and non-contentious copyright matters including acting in litigation and anti-piracy proceedings, counselling on liability issues, negotiating licenses and rights-clearances and advising in relation to acquisitions of new media and technology companies. He is also frequently retained by the entertainment industry and represents clients throughout the value chain. 

Jerker was educated at Stockholm University. During 2007-2008, Jerker pursued an LL.M. (Masters of Laws) with a concentration towards Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law at New York University School of Law as a Fulbright Scholar. 

Jerker has published several articles on copyright, database-rights and entertainment law and regularly lectures within these fields.

Jerker is a member of the Swedish Bar Association and is a registered foreign lawyer of the Law Society of England and Wales. He is also a member of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers (IAEL), the Swedish Copyright Association (SFU) and the Swedish Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (SFIR).

His credentials include advising major IT and technology-companies on copyright-matters on pertaining inter alia to the legal status of links and streaming under EU and Swedish copyright law. He has advised major movie studios on Swedish copyright- and rights-clearance issues. He also successfully represented Sony Computer Entertainment in a case against distributors of so called "jailbreak"-devices (unlocking PlayStation-consoles) in Sweden.
