Victoria specialises in resolving disputes arising out of franchise, licence, distribution and agency agreements.
Victoria is a partner in our International Dispute Resolution Group, based in London.
Victoria has particular expertise in acting for clients in the retail, hotel and leisure and food & beverage sectors. She advises companies who have expanded (both domestically and globally) via multi-channel strategies including franchising, licensing, distribution and agency relationships on all stages of the dispute avoidance and resolution process. She works with clients on pre-contractual disclosure documents and audits of recruitment materials (to minimise the exposure to misrepresentation and breach of contract claims); termination rights; managing franchisee/licensee performance issues; and strategies to avoid escalation of network-wide franchisee/licensee unrest as well as general dispute avoidance strategy advice.
She has extensive experience of mediation, litigation and arbitration. Victoria regularly advises clients on the protection of their trade secrets, know -how and goodwill from exploitation by former franchisees/ licensees including enforcing post termination obligations and restrictions through injunctive relief.
In addition to her significant UK disputes expertise, Victoria also regularly advises clients on disputes arising out of global multi-channel expansion programmes and has recently advised clients on disputes and managed litigation in countries as diverse as Romania, India, China, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Brazil.
Victoria also has experience of both bringing and defending franchisee class actions and has successfully represented large groups of franchisees to re-negotiate their franchise agreements, obtain damages and free themselves from contractual restrictions.
Victoria is a regular contributor to industry publications such as Franchise World, Franchise Business and Law Alert and Business Franchise Magazine and regularly speaks at trade events and seminars.
