As a partner at Bird & Bird and Head of our Energy and Utilities team here in Spain, I'm a specialist in Energy Law and a leading expert in foreign investment in Cuba.

Using my expertise in investment protection and arbitration in Spain and Latin America, I advise the main market players in the energy, natural resources, aviation, agribusiness, tourism, food and infrastructure industries.

I'm also co-director of the Energy and Regulation Forum of the Fundación para la Investigación sobre el Derecho y la Empresa (FIDE), Director of the energy law programme at Instituto de Empresa and Associate Professor of Private International Law at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria. I regularly take part in La Tertulia Capital on Capital Radio; 103.2 FM.

I was part of the legal team which designed the rules governing the electricity market in Cuba in 1997. I also advised private investors in conflicts relating to the energy industry in the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Cuba. I've taken part in numerous investment arbitration proceedings pursuant to the Energy Charter Treaty.
