Francesca has experience in a wide range of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, with a key interest in the life sciences & healthcare and technology & communications sectors.
Francesca is an associate in our Intellectual Property department, working from our London office.
She has been involved in a number of patent and supplementary protection certificate litigation matters relating to pharmaceuticals, biotechnologies and medical devices, including actions at the UKIPO and High Court and those resolved successfully through mediation and negotiated settlement. She has assisted clients with medical regulatory advice and IP transactional matters, including collaboration agreements, assignments and licensing.
Francesca also has experience in copyright and trade mark matters, including client brand protection programmes and advice on open source licences. Her experience is strengthened by time spent working in-house in a secondment role for a major global bank.
Before joining us Francesca spent five years as an editor and writer for The Pharmaceutical Journal. She has a Master's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry (University of Oxford, Exeter College). Her final year research explored molecular mechanisms behind resistance to anti-epilepsy drugs (Rivers F. et al. 2008, Eur. J. Pharmacol 598(1–3):1-8).
