I am an associate in the Privacy & Data Protection team at Bird & Bird in Madrid, where I focus on helping our clients, both local and international, to comply with data protection legislation.
I started advising on data protection in 2012 and started working for the firm in 2017. Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked in a Madrid-based legal boutique practice, where I specialised in data protection, intellectual property, software, e-commerce and other technology-related legal areas. I speak Spanish and English.
I believe that thanks to the fact that my past experience not only covered advising on data protection issues, I'm in a good position to identify potential risks, not only in the privacy field but also in other related areas that are frequently involved in the development of a business, particularly technology-related ones. Furthermore, during my previous job experience, I had the chance to get involved in many technological (and highly innovative) projects, which enabled me to enhance my analytical skills and my ability to come up with creative, business oriented and yet compliant legal solutions.
My practice is currently focused on auditing and advising organisations on data protection and e-privacy matters, helping clients to be compliant and to better understand the risks that not doing it may entail.
My everyday aim is to make sure clients comply with their data protection obligations, but from a business-oriented and commercial perspective. Although protection of privacy is essential, I strongly believe that legislation shouldn't discourage companies from developing data-driven businesses, particularly when it benefits technological innovation.
