I am a partner at Bird & Bird in Helsinki, and I am acclaimed for my wide ranging expertise and superb litigation skills.

I am head of our Finnish Intellectual Property Group and head of the Life Sciences Group in Finland.

I have extensive experience in intellectual property and life sciences law, including licensing, assignment, supply and distribution as well as technology agreements. This includes M&A-related IP agreements; patent, trade mark and design litigation; customs seizures; media and entertainment-related copyright issues; and regulatory proceedings concerning pricing and reimbursement of pharmaceuticals, amongst others.

I have been listed among 'Top 250 Women in IP' three years in a row (2017, 2018 and 2019) by the international publication Managing Intellectual Property.

In 2019 I was also recognised by WIPR (World Intellectual Property Review) as one of the 80 most influential women in IP globally. I have also been selected among the 30 best life science lawyers by the 'Best of the Best Global' in 2019.

You'll find me acknowledged as a leading Finnish Intellectual Property law practitioner in the most notable international directories, including Chambers & Partners and the EMEA Legal 500. I have also been listed in all the editions of Best Lawyers since 2009, in the field of Intellectual Property in Finland.

As well as working in law firms since 2001, I also have experience as a university lecturer and researcher focusing on the patenting of biotechnological inventions, and as a lobbyist for Finnish industry. Today, I frequently lecture on a variety of topics in IP and life sciences.

Over the years, I have served as a member of the national Copyright Council (Tekijänoikeusneuvosto) and Employee Inventions Board (Työsuhdekeksintölautakunta). I have also participated in the development of legislative work as a member of legislative committees reforming the Design Act and Trademark Act in Finland. I have served as the president of the Finnish Association for Industrial Property Rights and as a board member in other IP associations, including the Finnish AIPPI Group and the Finnish Information Technology Law Society.

In addition to my client work, I have recently paid particular attention to, and been interested in, such recent global trends and developments as data and AI (artificial intelligence), personalised medicine, sustainability as well as leadership and people management.
